Runshaw College student wins’ competition to create the new Home Truths brand

19-year-old Runshaw Adult College student Alex Carnall from Penwortham, Preston is the winner of a competition to design a completely new Home Truths brand. Alex will now get to see her designs rolled out across Home Truths For-Sale and Lettings boards throughout the region.
In October, the Runshaw Adult College students, working towards a Foundation Degree in Graphic Design at The Euxton Lane Campus, were invited to take part in our competition to create a new modern and memorable Home Truths brand. The winner would win a cash prize and the chance to see their own designs rolled out across all the Home Truths Sales and Lettings boards, across the new Home Truths website and throughout a range of marketing material.

Home Truths Director John Ascroft said: “Home Truths needed to re-brand. We now have two offices, one in Coppull and one in Eccleston and with our growing reputation across the region, we recognised that we needed a new brand to reflect our growth.

“We approached Runshaw Adult College as we wanted some fresh, creative ideas and thought that it would be a great opportunity for a student to see their winning design rolled out across all of our For-Sale and To-Let boards. The winner would literally be able to see their designs everywhere!

“We were absolutely blown away by the calibre of the designs when the students presented them and we could have selected many of them to move forward with. We eventually selected Alex as our winner as her design really developed and evolved the existing Home Truths brand. The new logo is fantastic, it is modern, memorable and is the perfect evolution for our business.”

Competition winner Alex Carnall said: “Home Truths wanted a new brand to develop their existing brand whilst at the same time visually communicating the values of the business. The logo I created consists of two people with their arms in their air and by using negative space there is a house displayed beneath their arms. The use of negative space is a very current trend in logo design and I feel that it suits Home Truths perfectly.

“Re-branding is my favourite part of being a Graphic Designer and visually helping businesses like Home Truths move forward is extremely rewarding. This brief has been really enjoyable and it has been a pleasure to work with everyone at Home Truths. I would relish the opportunity to continue to work with such a successful and friendly company.”

All the Home Truths team have been so pleased with Alex’s work that we have now offered her further design work within the business and we are all excited about the new working relationship ahead of us.
