Now, Sue Smith is in the hot seat and we want to find out why she is so proud of her family business, what plans she has for the coming year and what she loves about living in the area!
Why did you decide to launch Churchside?
I wanted to start my own family business, and with my son Peter we knew that we had more than enough industry experience and business knowledge to launch Churchside. We wanted to open our offices in Chorley as we all live in the Chorley area and understand the type of personal approach to financial services that people in Chorley were looking for. We brought on board Tim, a family member and Jamie in recent years. Jamie is a close friend of Tim’s and they both previously served in the RAF together.
Churchside is a family business, with strong values, we care about each other and we care for our clients.
What does Churchside stand for?
The name itself is quite self-explanatory, there is a beautiful old church at the side of our offices and we can see it from our windows, hence Churchside!
As a business, Churchside stands for trust. Our clients can trust that we put their needs first and we want to deliver the best results possible for them. We are inviting our clients to join our Churchside family when they come to us.
What do you most enjoy about running Churchside?
We all really enjoy working with different people, no one day is the same and everyone has a different situation and needs. One day we could be helping someone to buy their first home, after years of struggling to get on the property ladder. Another day, we could be ensuring that someone who is suffering from a serious illness receives a payout they need, from their serious illness insurance policy.
These are different situations, but in both cases, we are helping people. That is what I and the team most enjoy about what we do.
What time do you start work and finish work?
We are always open! The office is open from 9.30am – 5.30pm, Monday to Friday but the financial advisers work out of hours to meet with clients and to answer questions. Our clients have the adviser’s mobile numbers, so they can get in touch with us at any time, as and when we are needed!
What has been your favourite memory so far?
A difficult question as we have so many great memories. The team gets so much pleasure from helping people buy their first home, particularly when it’s a challenging situation. Seeing the journey through from beginning to end is an amazing experience and long may it continue.
Another memory, was when Tim practically saved Jamie’s life from a choking incident in the office. Tim’s quick thinking kicked in and Jamie survived…all from a piece of tuna!
What plans do you have for the next 12 months?
We have just set up a new boardroom in the Churchside offices, where clients can come in to meet with us and we have some exciting marketing campaigns planned. We have a lot of happy customers, you simply need to visit our website to see the testimonials! http://www.churchsidefp.co.uk/ We want to start letting more people know who we are and where we are. Watch this space!
Why should people come to Churchside?
We really do go the extra mile for our clients, who often come to us with challenging situations. We work hard for all our clients and people should come to us because we really care, and we are excellent at what we do.
What is the most used financial service?
Currently, it is an even split between mortgages and business protection insurance. However, we would like to see more people take up critical illness and income protection insurance, to safeguard themselves and their families should unforeseen circumstances happen.
What do you love most about the area you operate in?
We have all grown up in and around Chorley and we love our town. It is full of tradition and has a greats sense of community. It is also extremely convenient, being a few minutes from the M61 and M6 and less than an hour into Liverpool and Manchester. Added to that, there is an abundance of beautiful countryside on our doorstep with the lake district just a 40 minutes’ drive.
There are also some exciting growth plans for Chorley town centre and the surrounding area. It’s a great place to be right now.
What do you like to do on your day off?
On my days off I love to walk up mountains, especially in the Lake District. For my 25th wedding anniversary, my husband and I celebrated by climbing up Coniston Old Man. I also love tracing and collating people’s family trees. I find it absolutely fascinating to find out about people’s history. I think it brings out the detective in me!
In one sentence, why should people use Churchside?
Churchside was built on confidence and trust, we care and we can make a difference!
We will charge a broker fee of between £0 and £499, payable on completion. The amount we charge is dependent on the amount of research and administration that is required.
Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
