Withnell is a village in between Chorley and Blackburn and borders Abbey Village and the village of Brinscall. It has a population of just under 3,500.
Withnell has two churches; St. Joseph's Catholic Church and St Paul’s Church of England Church, other local amenities within Withnell include a village grocer’s shop, a fish and chip shop a beauty parlour and a car sales garage.

- Withnell Local Nature Reserve, traces the path of a disused railway for around 600 yards. The nature reserve has wildflowers, native trees and heathers and the public are free to walk through the reserve.
